Can you tell me about your siggy pic?  It is beyond gorgeous.

What all did you use to get such a perfect picture?

  • Thanks!

It's a seamless paper setup.  I took my roll of white paper and draped it over a railing we have in our house and put a piece of plexiglass on the floor for the babies to pose on.  For camera set up, I was using my Nikon DSLR and a speedlight bouncing off a window to give me good light.

Then it was just about getting the right angle to get the perspective.  (I have seen the picture done before by another bumpie's professional photographer, so I kinda knew what I wanted it to look like.)  Once I got in place on the floor, I shot 2-3 dozen pictures.  With both of them flailing their hands and feet this is literally the only shot that was decent - so I got lucky!  :)

  • Thanks so much!

What Nikon do you use?  I have a D40.  I have plexi...but no seamless paper.  I have black fleece, but every time I've tried to use it I think it looks dingy, not sharp.  I'm thinking maybe to get some seamless :-)  What sizes would you recommend?

  • I have the D300 - but you can definitely get the same picture with the D40!

I also have several fabrics and fleece and use them in a pinch, but generally hate them now that I have the paper.  You are right - fleece definitely doesn't look as crisp.  (Not to mention the pesky wrinkles you have to deal with!!!)

My paper is the 53" width.  I use Savage paper and your width options are 26" (way too narrow), 53", or 107"+ (way too big unless you have a very large space for setup.

I fit the two babies on the 53" paper just fine with room to spare on both sides.

I know that Adorama has their own brand of paper and I'm not sure what widths they have available.

Once you work with the paper, you'll love it!!!

  • Wow, what an awesome picture!  I love how their little bodies are almost symmetrical.  So cute.

Thanks!  I could show you 20 that look like crap - so I'm pretty happy with this one!  :)
