There's really no post about the earthquake?!

This afternoon Nate was having his nap and I was watching a few minutes of tv when all of a sudden my living room started shaking.  The walls, the windows, exersaucer and television all rattled.  At first I thought it must have been a train nearby or the cement plant doing a blast but then the shaking went on too long to be any of those things.  It was an earthquake!  The shaking lasted about 10 seconds.  Then I kept right on shaking for about half an hour.  It's my first earthquake!

  • Holy cow.  Scary for you. I would be scared too.  I've felt a few earthquakes in my time but none that were really freaky.  Glad you are ok!

  • We felt it here in metro-Detroit too! Well, not me personally, I was napping. But the cat woke me up yowling at the top of her lungs and I learned later that it was the time of the earthquake felt here!

  • I felt nothing!  But my brother called me right after and said that it woke him up and the whole house shook.  My mom felt it at work as well.  But i was out to lunch with my sister and neitehr of us felt anything.  BOO.

  • I didn't feel it, but it woke DH up (he's working nights so was sleeping this afternoon).  You probably would have felt it stronger than us because you're so much further east.

There was an earthquake near Lake Erie in 1998 and I felt that one.

It's crazy to think that we get earthquakes here huh?

  • Apparently every town surrounding us (etobicoke, georgetown, orangeville, etc) felt it, but everyone I've talked to here didn't feel it! WTH?? I missed my first earthquake!! I imagine it was freaky for everyone who did feel it, but I was kind of disappointed that I missed it all.
  • I totally felt it and it scared the crap out of me!! I was putting the baby down for a nap and all of a sudden the bed started shaking like crazy! To be honest I was so freaked out I didn't even know what to think. Thank God it's done with.
  • It's funny how people are disappointed when they don't feel it.  But I would be, too!
  • I felt it all the way in Indiana!  I was shocked when I saw how far away the actual earthquake was!
Just an absolute casserole of nonsense.
