I dreaded having blood drawn when my pedi ordered it for my 2 year old DD a few months ago. They thought she might be anemic too.
We went to a clinic right across the street from Memorial City Mall and they were BEYOND fabulous!!! My DD just talked to the two Phlebotomists the entire time and never even realised she was being stuck with a needle. They were WONDERFUL.
Our Pedi gave us a list of clinics with ones that specialized in infants. If yours doesn't and/or you don't see it on the list then let me know and I can try and find the exact name and number. Just let me know.
We had it done at the quest diagnostics in Sugar Land at 12 month and then again at 2 years (but the 2 year one was because she had a low grade fever for the longest time and I wanted to make sure everything was okay). Anyhow...they got blood on the first shot both times! I brought along dora and hello kitty bandaids (her favorites) because they always make her feel better when she has them. So the lady used them after she drew the blood and she was fine once the band aid was on. DH held DD on his lap while they took the blood both times too.
