If you didn't find out the gender, what did you do for the nursery?

(I'm being a PW today)

H and I decided that we're going Team Green this time.  Our nursery is fairly neutral, but it definitely leans boy.  I'm thinking we'll probably just leave it as is and change it up if this baby ends up being a girl.

Did you buy bedding and such beforehand and return what wasn't needed or wait until after your LO arrived?

Re: If you didn't find out the gender, what did you do for the nursery?

  • Tropical fish.  We bought everything and then girlied it up when we got her home (yellow curtains w/aqua polkadots to match the blues, etc).

We used the same stuff for DS's room when we moved, but did surfboards with it.  It's REALLY easy to find tropical/fishy decor, too.

  • I was team green from the start, so our nursery was neutral.  You can always pick out what you want, save it in your cart and buy it when you get home.  Probably easier than returning.  I did buy one girl outfit the 2nd time around and ask my mom to wash it and bring it to the hospital if we had a girl (which we did).  I got so many gifts that I didn't need to buy anything for her for a long time.
    DS1 age 7, DD age 5 and DS2 born 4/3/12
  • We did a room that was chocolate ice cream colored, with black and white polka dots/stripes for bedding, etc.

Once DD was born, we girlied it up with pink polka dot wall adhesives, etc.

  • We did find out with all three, but only have one nursery.  We knew we'd use it for all our kids (at least the first two - who would share it) so we did a gender neutral one anyway.  We went with a Classic Pooh that's olive, brown and dark red.  Here's some pics from when the girls were sharing it.  I wish I had better ones.  The color is off, but the top half of the wall is a gold color and the bottom is olive.  I liked it and it works with or without the Pooh part.

FWIW - The girls shared it until DS was born and now he has it.  We haven't changed the nursery for any of the three kids.  We did create a "big girl room" for the girls that's totally girly (and will be more so in the new house when we can paint it pink - their choice).

  • I did RED and I love it. There might be some pic in my old bio. The bedding was patchwork; light blue/white - red/white polkadot, red, green black gingham.
  • Right now, DS2's room is orange/blue/white.  He has this bedding: image

We'll totally use it again for a boy because I lurrrrrrrve it and we could probably add some girly touches if we have a daughter, but if we have a girl, I'm going all-out feminine.

The walls are painted a grayish-beige (greige, if you will), so I don't think we'd have to repaint.  Whoever said to save the bedding we like for a girl in an online shopping cart -- genius!  That didn't even cross my mind.

  • Holy!  I missed this BFP!  Congrats.  No clue about the OP question, though.
  • Mint green and brown. then I added blue once he was here.

  • We did green, yellow and white.  The bedding was those colors with bumble bees on it and trimmd with black.  We ended up having a boy....it was a cute nursery.
  • Congratulations on #3!!! :) So exciting.

We didn't find out the sex either time and did a neutral nursery with  pale, pale blue walls and white stars/scallops and our bedding, accessories was all pale blue, light green and yellow.
