Diaper question - particularly moms w/boys

So James has started rolling onto his belly while he sleeps.  When he does this, if he sleeps for more than a couple of hours, the diaper leaks in the front.  He JUST moved into size 2s, so I really don't think going up a size would help.  Any suggestions? Any diapers work better for your LO than others in this situation?

Re: Diaper question - particularly moms w/boys

  • I don't really have any suggestions, we went through a stage where it seemed like he leaked every night!  I can't remember if we had started using Target brand at size 2 or not.  Maybe just make sure it's pulled up really high?

  • DS has pretty much always been a belly sleeper.  We have had sporadic problems with leaving, most of the time solved by going up to the next size, but sometimes even then.

We use Huggies Snug and Dry I think?  But maybe you should think about a overnight diaper for the night time sleep.  Otherwise, I just try to make sure it's pointing down.

I'm so glad you pointed this out.  How sad is it that just recently someone told me that when you change their diaper it is supposed to point down or they will pee on themself. So here is a silly question, are you supposed to start doing this from birth?

LOL!  I have been pointing it down since birth. I think we would've had lots more and bigger messes if I didn't.

The penis definitely needs to be pointed down from day one! We learned this the hard way...now when I change his diaper its second nature to make sure.

Thank you ladies, I can't believe I never knew to do that. You guys are so supportive, I felt silly asking the question but now I know I can ask you anything. Smile

  • Even if its pointing down, you still need to cover it up FAST when changing diapers!

I just read this in another post today and thought to myself...that is the best advice I've ever got!  I would have probably never thought of that on my own!

It's a little cone shaped piece of fabric to cover up the sprinkler during diaper changes :)
