and I'm looking for advice.
My Son just fell off the changing table! I called the dr. We got the okay to not bring him in just to monitor him very closely for the next 48 hours. HE can't take naps longer than 45 mins. After that he will have to wake up and make sure hes alert then he can go back to sleep.
Has this happened to any one else?! any advice?! I;m dieing inside bc I let this happened.
Re: WORST MOTHER OF THE YEAR
DD rolled off the bed yesterday and fell on the floor. I think she landed on a pillow. She is fine. And she was fine yesterday after it happened- a little stunned.
I'm still so upset that I haven't even told DH. And I don't know if I can...
Mine is at work, He was the first person I called after the Dr. I'm sure he is questioning what I do while hes at work all day OR that could be the guilt im feeling talking.
that sucks! I hope lo is ok!
...my lil guys has not fallen, thank God. But this weekend, I set him on my mom's sofa, literally turned around to grab a diaper, turned back and I caught him mid fall! Scared the CRAP out of me!!
along the same lines...i guess when i was little my parents one time forgot to do the strap b/n my legs in my high chair and i slid right out of it and hit my head. they took me to the hospital and were told to do what your dr office told you to do. i think i turned out fine.....lol.
you're not a bad mom!
I know you feel awful but it happens! DS has fallen of our bed twice-our bed is really really high with drawers underneath it(around 3 feet off the ground). The second time DS fell off of it, he got a tiny bloody nose. I bawled for about an hour-DS was over it in about 5 minutes!
It'll be alright, try not to beat yourself up too much!
You're not a bad mom. A lot of accidents will happen and you will do a lot of thing that hurt LO over the years. Kids fall off things a lot! A friend's toddler fell off the table at the pediatrician's office while waiting for the doctor and broke his arm. LO was sitting on the exam table and mom turned to pick up a book out of the basket on the counter and LO fell off.
I know you feel awful, I drove all the way home without fully strapping Nick in to his carseat once when he was younger! So, I totally understand, and I don't want to make you feel worse, but I just want to reiterate something we all know: don't ever have them on the changing table (or a high bed) without a hand on them! I'm surprised at everyone saying "it happens to everyone," etc - that's not true. They don't have to fall off high surfaces, we just have to be really vigilant!
I'm sure your LO will be fine, lesson learned and they'll never remember it happened.
DS fell on hard tiled floors!!! I feel aweful that I never told DH (Tristan was probably about 6 weeks old at the time). It was not from too far of a height but still - OMG. He is fine but I want to cry just thinking about it. It was a stupid mistake on my part and I don't want to re-live the story so I won't go into detail about it.
Babies fall - it happens. Your DC will be fine (God willing). Don't beat yourself up too much. Just be more careful next time - that's all we can do.
EDIT TO ADD: Oh, and I plan to take that secret with me to my grave! This happened to me when I was 3 months old and I broke my arm. My Mom felt horrible and cried for three days. I don't remember a thing and I still love my Mom to bits!
We all make mistakes. I am sure you are a wonderful mother!
I'm sorry, but how the hell do you let LO fall out of your bed twice? I understand once, as a mistake, but shouldn't you take precautions to prevent it from happening again?
