Best Methods of Advertising?

DH is looking to really ramp up his side business doing computer repair.  He does this currently but people who know that he works on computers come to him... we've never really tried to advertise or get something going beyond just an occasional job.

We're going to start with Craigslist and Facebook... Does anyone have ideas where our advertising efforts would be best spent?  I'm thinking flyers, not anything expensive...  Just wondering where would be good places to focus that advertising.

Thanks much!

  • crap- look on hip2save or one of the other blogs- there is a deal being run for free business cards plus shipping i think- get some made up.

word of mouth is ALWAYS the best- so get cards made up and have him network like crazy. leave cards on bulletin boards (grocery stores, local township building, church, whereever)

look at local websites that promote small businesses- chamber of commerces etc.

I would be weary of CL just starting out- but that is me.

  • If you belong to a church you could advertise in their weekly bulletin that they pass out after masses.

  • Word of mouth is always the best and quickest.  Vista Print runs all kinds of specials for free flyers, business cards, etc.  Check them out and then you could just leave a business card or flyer everywhere you go...grocery stores, dr's appointments, etc.  GL!

Woo on the free business cards - We were just about to get some ordered from Vista Print, I'll take a look and see if I can find the blog.

You're right on the word of mouth thing - He has gotten so much business, without trying, just by referrals from friends... I'm hoping if he really ramps this up, it can turn into a nice little extra money-maker.  Bulletin boards... good call.  Looks like Jackson and I will have some running around to do.

Hey Stacy - I know you frequent a bunch but can you tell me which blogs you frequent the most so I can check them?  Just checked hip2save and no dice.

    Thank you!!
