Babies: 3 - 6 Months

nap schedule?

hi,

my baby is 5 months old and currently has a pattern where she wakes up, eats, plays for 2 hours and then needs a nap (usually naps for about 45 minutes). i was wondering if at this point she needs a more strict nap schedule, but am clueless as to how to do this. i have been basically following her lead thus far.

any advice would be appreciated. thanks :)

Re: nap schedule?

  • It sounds like she already has a nap schedule.  Why do you want to change it?
  • Loading the player...
  • It sounds as if she's already set her own nap schedule..

But, no, my 5 month old does not have a nap "schedule". I start getting her down for a nap as soon as she first appears tired.

  • yes i guess it is a schedule. but i was looking forward to knowing times of naps, if that makes any sense.
  • Sounds like a pretty good schedule already. We use some of the tips from the Healthy Sleep Habits book, and it says babies at this age need 1-2 hour naps twice a day, usually around 9 am and at 1 pm. I've noticed my DD is tired around those times, so I'll try to put her down then.
