I had a miscarriage in December (D&C) and got a normal period 30 days after. I just had another miscarriage in May that happened naturally. My doc said to call them if I didn't get a period in 4 to 6 weeks. Well, it's been 6 weeks and counting and still nothing. I'm not having any pain or abnormal symptoms. And I really don't want another exam or ultrasound unless absolutely necessary. Do you think it's OK to wait a while longer or should I call doctor?
Thanks to all who read this. This is my first post on this board and I really feel for all of you ladies here.
Re: How long to get AF after miscarriage?
I'm so sorry for your losses.
I was told by my doctor 4-8 weeks. Mine came in at about 5 weeks. I would say wait a few more days then call them.
I don't have an answer, but I wanted to say that I'm sorry for your loss.
My period came back when I was 5 wks pp and my dr was shocked. My milk had come in so I was pumping to donate because I had already paid for the rental of the pump a few days prior to losing Aidan.
Same here. I hadn't gotten AF after 6 weeks so I called the nurse at my OB's office - she told me to wait until it's been 8 weeks and call back.
I have this same question although after my first m/c my period came exactly 4 weeks later. My 2nd miscarriage...(which was caused by me having surgery and not knowing I was pregnant), my period came 5 weeks later.
My 3rd loss was not a miscarriage but had a D&C at 12 weeks pregnant and my period took MONTHS and MONTHS to return.
Which was why this time, a missed miscarriage at 10 weeks pregnant...I decided not to have a D&C and wait it out naturally. It did happen. I cam currently 5 weeks 4 days since the m/c started and no period yet. I was going to wait until 6 weeks to call RE's office.
I know you don't really want to see a doctor but if it would help you, why wouldn't you do it? I wouldn't wait 2 more weeks, I would call now.
I'm going on 4 weeks myself. Have you taken a home pregnancy test to see if it's negative? If it's still positive, you probably won't be getting AF anytime soon.
Really sorry you're going through all of this. The loss is hard enough.
