i'm looking at wahmies and planet wise wet bags and diaper pails. how do I choose between them? are there any differences between the brands? does one work "better" than the other, or should I just go with the prints i like the most?
I don't think there is a difference. i have planet wise (solid color) pail linder and they work well. My wetbags are leslies I think. The "print" is just cotton outside of white PUL. I want to try to make some soon.
Which brings me to my next point - you could sew your own pail liners since they are just like sewing a pillow case - Joann fabrics now has PUL for $14.99/yd (use a 40% coupon for extra savings). Wet bags would be a little more difficult if you want them to zip.
I looked at it and almost bought some in case I needed to make all day wetbags for daycare. They have pastels (pink, yellow, aqua, orange-y, and white)

ooh, that sounds like something even i could handle. looks like the commercially available pail liners have elastic at the top - is that helpful or not necessary?
The elastic is nice for the pail liner. I have a planet wise pail liner that I really like. I bought 2, one for in the pail and the other one is usually in the laundry... having 2 is essential for laundry days!
I have an etsy wetbag that I LOVE for the diaper bag, the seller is monkeyfootdesigns. The print is completely adorable. I'm sure you could make them though, they don't look that hard.
I bought the Wahmies pail liners and wet bag! I haven't used them yet, obviously, but I like the quality of them. I don't know anything about other brands, but I like that the Wahmies has a little fabric tag on the inside of its liners and wet bags, specifically for adding a few drops of essential oils for preventing odors. I have a bunch of essential oils so I plan to try this out.
Sandra, you're so crafty! I'm sure you could make your own!
when i was buying them it seemed that it was just personal preference and there isn't a big difference.
i have the planet wise pail liner in a kitchen trash can....the wet bag we have was from a vinh thi designs co-op but they don't make them anymore (a shame b/c they are so cute)...seems like leslies wet bags are super popular too.

yes elastic would be nice - i wouldn't worry about using the fancy fold over type though. If I had to sew some more I would just make a casing:

(like elastic band pants)

I have this Swaddlebees pail liner. I like that it has a drawstring closure, plus it's elastic. It's pricier but I like that I can close the bag.
My wet bag is from Petunias on etsy. They don't have the print I got anymore but it's got Japanese kokeshi dolls on it.
