Hi Ladies! So my first RE apt is on monday... I was wondering from your experience what is the chances that RE will wait to come up with a plan until after DH gets a SA? I'm already diagnosed with PCOS but he has yet to be tested. Just curious if your RE's held off on further treatment on you until DH's SA results came back or not.
Thank you in advance Ladies

Re: Question about 1st RE apt:
Mine let me start...I did the 50mg of clomid without the SA done yet. As soon as my period starts (unless by a miracle is doesn't) he will be going in for it that way if for some reason we need this next cycle to be IUI based on the results we will have enough time.
Mine said she would wait 2 clomid cycles since I clearly have an ovulation problem we have to deal with but I did not tell DH that. I think it is lame he has put it off this long.

SAIF/PAIF Welcome
Lots of love and luck to my PAIF/3T/IF Veteran ladies, especially my dear friend Zookie. Congrats to Papps, Teach84 and Starbuck on their little ones.
Hey Pocket! I'm so excited for you! Did you end up going with IGO.. or you have Kaiser, right?
Anyways, we actually did the SA before most of my own testing. I don't think I would have been comfortable starting any treatments until that was done first. You don't want to shell out the $ on treatments for something, only to find out there's an issue with your H.. and hopefully there's not!
Every treatment comes with s/e's, some sort of risk, and a lot of poking and prodding on your part.. so you'll feel much better holding off on all that until he gets checked out.
Good luck Pocket!!
Our RE wouldn't do any treatment until I had a diagnostic cycle and DH had a SA. Which is good- my diagnostics indicated that clomid was a good fit. DH's SA meant that we're probably doing IVF.
No point in spending money on the low tech stuff if there's MFI.

?SAIF/PAIF/PgAL/PAL always welcome?
Ditto on all this! We actually had the SA results at our first RE appt. If we hadn't, I don't think that they would have held up any testing for me, but probably would have waited to come up with a treatment plan until after the SA results came back. I'm curious to see how your experience is if you do have Kaiser. We're contemplating switching to Kaiser through my work b/c the current insurance we have through DH's work doesn't have any IF coverage...
I appreciate all your ladies input and experience! I'm really looking forward to FINALLY taking that next step with an RE instead of the pain in the neck OB/gyn I've been dealing with.
I may be in the minority, but my RE is going to have my DH get an SA through their lab (apparently it is higher resolution and they also do a DNA fragmentation test) before he gives us a treatment plan even though his SA through Quest came back fine. I guess part of that may be that he thinks we should do IVF because of my tests. Good luck at your RE appointment!

My RE absolutely would not help us without an S/A. She said there was no point in wasting our money if we didn't have any sperm. In our case, it was a good call because DH had a lot of problems initially. They also need it to come up with a good plan. If the problem is with YH, the plan of action would be completely different than if it was PCOS alone.
Edit: Noticed PCOS diagnosis
