I also pasted this on the Working Moms board, but subsequently it occured to me that it may make more sense to post this here:
DH and I are trying to decide when it is best to TTC our 2nd child. We were thinking the best time may be while our DS is 3 (in hopes that we could get PG and have a child shortly before/after his 4th birthday), but I'm starting to wonder given DS's constant temper tantrums and strong-willed resistance to doing things that one must do (e.g., take a bath, brush his teeth, eat his dinner rather than galavanting around the dining room table and playing).
If you were pregnant with a 3 year old, what was your experience like? Any tips you can offer so that I can get started implementing them BEFORE the TTC period?
Re: TTC with a 3 Year Old
You're probably going to get more responses to this on the toddlers board.
There are lots of moms on the 24+ board that could probably offer you some insight--many already have DC #2, and/or are TTC another child.
I was pregnant with a 3 year old and like the pp mentioned you just have to stay on top of things and try to be as consistent as possible. It does seem like they know when your guard is down though. Which was so hard when I was pregnant because I was just exhausted. I had anemia and a few other issues and it seemed like my 3 year old knew that mom was not "on top of her game" so he challenged me more.
My DH did a really good job of putting him in check so I would often use that as a threat; you know the classic "wait til your father gets home" bit. Anyways, there is never a perfect time to add another baby in the mix so I would say, just go for it. You don't know how long it will take, or even if it will happen so you might as well start sooner rather than later. Things are great now. So great in fact that we are trying for a third!!! GL to you.
