"Ella" has been our baby girl name forever. My BFF's sister just had a baby. A few weeks ago, my BFF said they had chosen either Jordan or Taylor for the baby girl her sister was expecting. In conversation, I confided in her my baby girl name - she says "wow that's such a nice name". She knows about our stuggles TTC.
Just got a text: "Baby Ella has arrived". Shocked at the coincidence, I text back the obligatory "congratulations" and note that "Ella is my very favourite name". She writes back: "I picked it".
I know I am being overly sensitive but her giving away my baby name is just throwing salt in the wound...Sigh. She probably doesn't even remember where she came up with it from.
Re: BFF stole my baby name:(
I'm so sorry you are going through this. That really stinks that she even commented with "I picked it". I'd be a little upset too.
DH's friend just had a baby girl. There has always been a name that I was in love with. His friend does not not we are trying OR that I like that name. When they picked the same name for their little one, I was crushed! Obviously they can pick whatever name they want and the fact that they didn't know about us makes it different but it is still hard to hear it.
I just hope your friend is more sensitive. She could have at least said, "I hope you don't mind but my sister and I were talking about names." Something to at least acknowledge it!

That is crappy! I'd be really mad. I'm so sorry
We just had a friend name her daughter the name we wanted. She didn't know, so it's not the same story. But I'd like to thank IF for a brief moment! My friend has had two kids in the time I have not had one. Sigh.

You have every right to be upset and I agree that you still should use Ella. My SIL was trying to use our boy baby names for her 2nd child that my hubby and I have had picked out forever and I was not having it. Then my FIL had the nerve to tell us that he thought it was very nice that she didn't use the names we picked out. WTF?! Even if I never have a boy and she used the names we picked out I would still resent her for being such a B**tch. Sorry I'm just venting.
