powdered formula - how long does it last?

I think the can says once opened it has to be used within a month.  I was thinking of leaving a can at my mom's but it would definitely last longer than a month.

  • I believe it is a month until it expires once opened.

  • One month from the time it is opened. You could use and old can or a tupperware of some kind and leave some of it at her house and take the rest back home.

  • If she isn't there much, you can buy the premixed bottled kind that you just add the nipple to, like you get at the hospital.
  • Enfamil has (not sure about other brands) these 4 oz travel packets, single serving.  You could buy a case for your mom's house, then she just has to open individual packets and you won't have to worry about it going bad.

I got some free at the hospital and I keep them in my diaper bag for emergencies. DD was born in January and they don't expire until this October.

  • I had no idea that it expired so quickly when opened.  I have a can at daycare for when my little piggie eats all the BM I send and is still hungry.  I guess I'll have to figure out a way to rotate that a little better.  Maybe the packets would be good for daycare.
