Terri''s post got me thinking, if you have decided on a name for your LO - was there a certain reaon behind it? Does the name have a special meaning to you or a story behind it?
For example, we are naming our LO Cassady, after Neal Cassady (prominent figure in 50's and 60's counter culture - inspiration for Kerouac's Dean Moriarty character in On the Road - DH's favorite book and the focus of his dissertation for his phd). And it's a Grateful Dead song ![]()
Just curious as to what your stories may be or if you just liked a name and went with it.
Re: S/o names: Meaning behind it?
His first name is DH's name and his middle name is kind of just one that we liked that happens to be one of our favorite baseball players.
We were stumped for boy's names, and decided to go through the Phillies roster to see if we liked any of those names (not because they were Phillies, but it was just an easy way to start a list of boys names). We both really like the name Chase, regardless of it being Chase Utley's name, but we also really like Chase Utley, so it worked out, lol.

baby boy's 1st name comes from dh's grandma's middle and maiden names
his middle name is from his great grandma's maiden name
Part of our problem picking a name this time around is that we're trying to think of something that means something to us. DS is Nolan Brent after his Uncle Noel and my FIL.
I love the name Cassady btw!!!
Girl name, Paulina has no meaning, but middle name is the same as my MIL, Christine.
Boy names (we keep going back and forth) Braylon has no meaning, but middle name is the same as FIL and DH's late brother, Allen. Name two we are just in love with, has no meaning, Mikko Alexander.
ETA: Mikko is the name of a MN Wild player that DH loves and is Finnish for Micheal.
I love the name Chase!

With DD #1, it was a name I had loved for years and her middle name is a variation of mine: Adia Kate
DD#2 will be Johanna Elise. Johanna means God is gracious and DH loved the name Elise.
I think the Grateful Dead reference is awesome!!!
As I mentioned below, if we used the name Grace it was our beloved dog's name.
We have our boy names picked out that we both love but if it was up to H he would want to name our son Brock because of the former WWE / now UFC guy. Big fat fail! I told him that I would allow it if the MN could be Lee
EDIT: all MN will be family names, this baby's mn will be Denise after my late mom which means so much to me.
DH's name is John Wesley and he is a junior. Since we obviously can't name one baby after him and not the other we will be splitting his name between the boys. John Patrick and Benjamin Wesley.
John Patrick will go by JP since DH, FIL, and my Dad are all named John.
BFP #2 - 12/9/09 After being on bedrest for 10 weeks due to TTTS and hospital bedrest for 4 weeks due to PPROM, my sticky babies are here! Born at 32 weeks!!
Silje is a name that I fell in love with a few years ago. (Pronounced SILL-yuh). It also happens to be Norwegian, which is a big part of my heritage.
I looked up the name AFTER settling on it, and it's meaning is "Musical"... which is GREAT because I am a music teacher.
DH thought it was just meant to be after that. He picked Rose because he thought it sounded pretty with Silje.
we didnt officially name our twins, but we did come up with one boy name we want to use. We can't agree on ONE girl name so we are doomed if spark is a girl!
Owen Cobb H------
It is both of our mothers maiden names

My DH likes this!! Since there's NOT a like button, I'm writing it for him.
As for our baby girl's name (which we haven't revealed), we picked it because DH heard that a baseball player (formerly a Pirate) had a daughter named this. He said, "What do you think of X?" I said I really liked it. We just went with a middle name that sounds good with it, only later realizing two things:
1. The middle name has a blah meaning. We don't care for the meaning, but we don't want to change the name now because we are in love with the name.
2. The initials of baby girl will be one from me, one from DH, and then of course, our last name. If we have another, we're hoping to use a similar pattern.
Beautiful name!!
LOL! (DH is from from Lancaster, hehe)

DHs grandfather was Bernie, and my grandmother was Shirley - so we're using the letters B&S.
Last name is Schw... so we have to avoid Sh names. And we're looking for something with a Hebrew origin.
Those are our parameters, and now we're stuck on the actual names!
We live just north of Lancaster City...and we love it! It's so quiet, yet so close to just about everything. If you're up here visiting, be sure to let me know!
