bcp vs. nuvaring

Now that my boobs are drying up I would like to use a form of bc that I find more reliable than the mini-pill.

for those of you who have tried both, which did you prefer and why?

Re: bcp vs. nuvaring

  • Reaching my hands up in there gives me the skeeves, so it is definitely the pill for me! I have been on Seasonique forever, and I love it because you only have a period every 3 months. Greatest thing EVER! :) I will go back to that as soon as I'm done BFing.

  • I hate pills and my husband complained about Nuvaring he swore he could feel it. I am either going back to Depo or trying an IUD.

  • I was not a fan of either of them, but my hubby said he could feel nuvaring too.  I would consider bcp's again, but would NOT consider nuvaring again.
  • Loved Nuvaring minus the fact that DH said he could feel it.  I hated having to remember to take a pill at the same time every day.  Nuvaring can also be dosed in such a way that you can insert one back-to-back and only have a cycle every 6 weeks or so...

My DH also could feel the nuvaring, but other than that I loved it. Inserting it and taking it out is really not that...invasive. When I'm done breastfeeding I will probably go back on it.

  • Well I was on the pill for over 20 years with no problem.  It worked so well, I didn't think I could even have kids, which was not a problem.

I switched to the NuvaRing and due to inadequate usage (it kept coming out during sex) I ended up pregnant.

    Going back on the pill.

I was on the pill for 10 years, but always had breakthrough bleeding and it drove me nuts.  But, I def don't need more babies.

  • Nuvaring= MASSIVE headaches, well for me at least.

BCP- always did fine on them, but DH has to help me remember them. So not too hot on going back to them.

I am going to ask about an IUD I think...
