Good idea or nay? I kinda want a haircut and was wondering if (1) it's really difficult to have the baby next to/near you since the stylist moves around you a lot and (2) the chemicals used in a salon may not be too good for the baby? Or do moms only go to the salon when someone else can watch the baby?

Re: Going to the salon with baby?
I never did - I really, really wanted to get a pedicure on more than one occasion and I always go to a spa place that doesn't also do acrylics so it isn't very smelly in there but I didn't want him to fuss and make us have to leave. And I guess I didn't want him to be exposed to any possible chemicals.
My hair stylist is a friend that had a baby 1 week before me. She now cuts hair from a special room in her house so I did that and we knew going into it that we would have to take breaks but our babies both slept. I just set him in a bouncy chair but a stroller would work too as long as he slept and the place wasn't doing perms or highlights. I think this would work best at a salon with only 1-2 people just in case your baby started to fuss. I have had my friend cut my hair for 3 years now and she always works at small salons where she if often the only person there so if it was like that I wouldn't hesitate to take a baby. In an environment like that I could park the stroller near but far enough to be out of the way without worry unlike in a busy, crowded salon.
all that said, it seems easier just to leave the baby at home and enjoy some alone time
