Those using a bassinet

When your LO wakes at night what do you use for a light?  I'm a light sleeper to begin with and need the room relatively dark.  Do you turn on a light, use a night light, etc.?  With my DD I had her in her nursery so it wasn't an issue but with my next I plan on using the bassinet.  tia.

Re: Those using a bassinet

  • I used to use my cell phone or leave the tv on so I could see. Now that I have the FP RNP, I clip my book light on to the bottom. Seems to be working great.

  • I got a dimmer switch for my light and I turn it on at as low as I can go

  • I put a 25 watt bulb in the lamp near the bassinet.  Seems to be light enough not to wake her up.

  • We have a dimmer in our room so we just keep it really low.

  • For the first week or so we turned on a light in the hallway, but that woke all of us up too much. DH got a couple of night lights for us to use...one in the bedroom and one in the bathroom...I'm getting used to sleeping with a bit more light and it is nice not to change the level of lighting in the middle of the night...seems to keep DS more sleepy too.

I found some cute lamps at hobby lobby. The one in my room glows red because if the thick glass shade and the one in ds's room is a frog that glows green. It uses those small decorative lamp bulbs so it's not as bright. They were cheap too only like 10 bucks.

  • We have a bathroom off the master bedroom so I switch on that light and its not direct so its just enough to check on him and take him out of the basinett to feed.

  • i have a small decorative lamp on my nightstand that has a very low watt bulb in it.  It is basically like a nightlight.
