random I know. My DH's big 40th is coming up and I'm thinking that a manly golf weekend with a couple of his friends, or his father or something would be the perfect gift. (He's been saying he wants to go on a guy trip ever since I started planning this trip to Seattle this weekend)
So I'm trying to figure out WHERE he should go....The only two "big" golf courses I can think of are Pebble Beach (hello, watched golf all weekend, thanks DH) and TPC Scottsdale....
But are there any other "bucket list" type golf courses that would be good for a man trip?
Re: Any golfers on here???
August (LOL!)
Kiawah Island
Ponte Vedra (Jacksonville)
Don't forget, unless some nestie has a membership and is willing to sponsor a round of golf, they have to be public courses. (All the best courses I can think of (Augusta and Pinehurst) are members only.
I believe North Carolina is known for several good courses (your DH could play a couple in one weekend.) Maybe Bubbly could recommend a few?
I thought about that, but my brother is a pro, and gets special benefits as a pro, including the ability to play on many (not all though) private courses....so I'm thinking of pulling my brother into the mix and sending him on the trip too. DH and my brother would have a BLAST.....hmmmm....ok, time to start researching where and when....
Myrtle Beach is probably the best place for someone not on an elite level to take a weekend trip. A course like Pebble Beach would be a dream, but would also make a casual golfer feel like they can't play mini golf.
Myrtle Beach has a ton of courses designed by some of the best. They could play several of them over a long weekend to.
My dad went to pebble a few years ago and had a blast. Other cool ones are Bethpage (in ny) which is fun cause then they could go into the city for a day or two.
Not sure what the golf courses are like, but dh's friends surprised him with a hilton head weekend for his bachelorette party weekend and they played tons of golf and spent the weekend at the beach.
PB is like $400 a round.
M would recommend several of the Hilton Head Island courses, particularly Harbortown. (It's pricey, but not $400 pricey.)
There's one in NC that's pretty fab too, I just can't think of the name of it at the moment.
You take my ovaries, I take your yarns.
Pinehurst is the NC one I was thinking of. Also the one in Charlotte where the Wachovia tournament is played.
And speaking of Bethpage, I think Bethpage Black is a public course.
I know entirely too much about golf.
