NBR: cost of tux rental

DH was in a wedding this past weekend and I just found out that his tux rental was $135!!

That's more expensive than the BM dresses for our wedding!

My head nearly exploded. Thank goodness we didn't have to stay at a hotel for this wedding, it cost us almost $400 as it was and the sad thing is, these aren't even close friends. :(

Out of all of the things we should be spending $400 on right now... grrrr

    I think that the price of rentals has really gone up.  The kids were telling me that they paid about $150 for their tux rentals for the prom and a few of them went to both the junior and the senior prom.  At least with the BM dresses, they got to keep them.

    I know!  Timm bought his tux for a wedding next month and the rental costs us $110.  I was floored.  I had no idea it was so expensive to rent a tux.  Just one more reason to be glad I had a DW.

    Her wedding is costing her a bajillion dollars and she has to invite people she doesn't even know.  I know she paid a lot to be in my wedding with travel and my bachette but when this is all said and done I will have paid half of what she paid for mine and she got a vacation out of our wedding!

    Yeah Eric's best friend didn't come to our DW, but the following year Eric was in his wedding and when all was said and done- tux, hotel, gas, gift, boarding the dog, it was over $1,000 and they could have came to our wedding for that price.

    It is expensive these days.  Our friends got married 3 weeks prior to us last year and Bri was in the wedding.  The tux rental was $150 and we had to stay at the hotel for 2 night because we had to attend the rehearsal the night before.  The hotel was $130 a night.  So the cost of the tux, hotel and gift was $650+.  That doesn't include any money we had to spend on my outfit, food, alcohol, etc.  Not to mention that we had to take half days off from work that Friday in order to make it to the rehearsal on time.  Weddings are expensive!

    I can't believe how expensive they are now!  A month before our wedding my DH's twin brother got married.  We ended up having to rent 2 tuxes, one for DH and one for Rowen.  Rowen's was almost the same price as DH's!

    DH was best man in a wedding last year -- his tux was $150, not including shoes. They made the trip for our wedding, so we didn't feel too terribly bad about it. Still, kinda crazy.

    I'm in a wedding next month and it's going to cost me $1000+ to be apart of it. Did I mention DH has been laid off for 7 months? Yeah. Awesome.
