Babies on the Brain

Poll: What mispronunciation bothers you most?

I cannot stand it when people say "lie-berry" when trying to say library. It makes me want to throw a book at them.

I'm sitting in the library working and a new guy is getting trained. The trainer suffers from this affliction...she better watch out for flying paperbacks!

ETA: She also just said "Li- Berry-An" add that to my list. And she just complained about people pronouncing her name wrong...oh the irony

And wreaf instead of wreath.  DH and his parents say this.  I have no idea why.  I tell him every time that there is no F in wreath, but it hasn't sunk in yet

My husband does this, as did a former boss. I hate that pronunciation.

This is too funny. My dad says Chi-pole-tay and this weekend I corrected him over and over again since Chipotle's in Adobo is his new favorite garnish for everything. He still can't get it right. In fact, now he says Chip-o-lo-tee.

  • DH pronounces theatre as th-ee-ate-er.  It drives me up the wall.
  • I hate when people say "ex-specially" when they mean especially.

  • My mom drives me nuts with mispronunciations, too.  Even words she has only ever heard spoken she will mispronounce.  I have know my best friend since eighth grade and my mom still pronounces her last name wrong.

  • DH and SIL both say "crown" in place of "crayon". And they will argue to the death that they're saying it correctly. Drives me bat shiit. I told DH he's only allowed to call them Crayolas if he can't pronounce crayon correctly.

You wear a crown, you color with crayons. Not. That. Difficult.
