Pregnant after a Loss

S/O Ultrasounds and full bladder: CP inside

I have never had to have a full bladder for any of my u/s either abdominal or transvaginal. The hospitals and doctors around here apparently do not believe in torturing pregnant women. Did you have to have a full bladder for your u/s?

  • I think that's an older thing.  The equipment is so much better now, I don't think many places require that anymore.

  • my ob office said they tell everyone to go with a full bladder because if they need it full, you're ready, and if they want you to empty it, it's just as easy.  ...it's torture becuase they never run on time.

  • I had to for the NT one - the 13 weeker (or so). Never the trans. vag. & not for the Big u/s.
  • I have had several u/s done but they only required the full bladder for my NT scan, my amnio (they did the u/s, let me empty then did the amnio) and I will also have to have a full bladder for my anatomy u/s.
  • for big u/s yes for 3d no
  • I've been asked if I need to empty my bladder before every u/s.

Me too!  In fact once they said it was too full even though I didn't really have to go and they made me anyway. LOL!

  • I'm drinking my 32oz of water as we speak. blech.
  • Only for the early ultrasounds (before 12 weeks) They try to avoid doing TV ultrasounds before 12 weeks unless they have to.  For my 20 wk appt. I only have to have a moderately full bladder
  • For the first U/S they told me to have a full one, but an empty one for all others.
  • at my OB they make you pee in a cup at the beginning of every visit... so they obviously dont care/want you to have anything in there.
