One year ago Saturday I quit smoking. We found out we were pregnant on 6/17. I had 1 cigarette on 6/18 (no flames, please) and was offically smoke free on 6/19. So I have been a non-smoker for 1 year and 2 days! Yipee!
Hooray for you! I could never cold turkey it myself, I went the Chantix route three years ago. It was a lifesaver! Good for you for being able to do it on a dime like that. I really don't think most people understand just how difficult it is. Good for you, go celebrate it with an ice cream or dinner out or something!
Thank you, ladies! I still have my moments but being pregnant was such a big help...don't think I would have quit otherwise. My mom and step mom both quit when the boys were born so that helps me too!
Kat - if you need any motivation you can call me anytime! I know just how hard it is to make the leap and stick with it
Yay Erin! I didn't know you were an ex-smoker. I am too! I quit the day before I found out I was pregnant with DD (I was pretty sick the day before and then the next morning took a test and then DH smoked the rest of my cigs).
I have had a few moments of weakness out with friends, but I am so happy to be free from smoking, too! Congrats on your one year!
That's awesome! I quit almost 5 years ago as a wedding present to C. I would be lying if I said there wasn't the occasional time that I really, really wanted one since then, but 99% of the time I just find it disgusting.
I don't know the exact date I was smoke free last year, I know it was not long before DH donated his kidney to his dad.
Then... I wound up pregnant that same month. Woops! DH & I have been smoke free since I guess end of April/beginning of May 2009? We both have no desire to pick them back up again.
Re: I need to AW a little (re: smoking)
Yay! So exciting!
Although I never was addicted, I socially smoked when drinking, etc... Its a nice way to relax.
That is a huge accomplishment! Cutting cold turkey is hard!!
Go out and celebrate!!
