How would you pronounce Eva?

Would you say E-va? (as in Eva Longoria)

Or

Would you say A-va? ( as in Eva Mendes)

    To me Eva is E-va and Ava is A-va. I think it would forever get mispronounced if it wasn't spelled the way you say it. :-)

    This name is tricky. 5 years ago I would have sad Aaaaa va but now that Ava is so popular and well known I would say Eeee va =) 

    It reminds me of the name Lena. I had a friend in high school named Lena and we always called her Lean-A but then insisted that her name was german and it was supposed to be Lane -a.  FWIW her mom's name was Eva and it was pronouced Aaava.

    and CONGRATS I definitly  missed this new ticker as well!

    With the popularity of the Ava spelling now, I guess I would say Eva = E-va, and Ava = A-va just like the previous posters... but it completely goes against all my learning in my spanish classes!   Only in the last couple years would I consider saying Eva = E-va... because in spanish class... Eva is pronounced A-va.  So really, it could go either way.  I mean, I would never say that Evita is pronounced e-vita... I would says it's pronounced A-vita.
