swim diapers - use disposable ones or buy one to reuse?

The Huggies Little Swimmers small starts at like 16 lbs and DD is a wee one so she's not there yet but I got a pack since I had a coupon. I looked online for reusable ones and found some that will fit her. Which do you use and why?

  • Disposable, easier for our lifestyle, same reason we use disposable real diapers.

  • I'm currently looking for a reusable one because we plan on going swimming A LOT and it's ridiculous to continue to pay for disposable swim diapers when they don't hold pee anyway, your just catching poop!

I don't want to order one online but I haven't found one in stores, so I guess I'm going to break down soon and order one or two.

A reusable swim diaper will not hold pee either; swim diapers are not supposed to. If they absorbed pee then they'd absorb pool water.

  • We use cloth, but we also use cloth diapers. Do they not have the Wee Wave ones at Target any more? The last couple years they sold them on an end cap in the baby section. Little swimsuits with built in swim diapers and some that are just swim diapers. About $5. That's what we've used.

I know, the point I was making, was why waste money to maybe catch a BM?  99% of the time ds doesn't have a BM while swimming so I feel like it's wasteful.

And I actually saw some reusable diapers online today that do catch pee!  They are supposedly "waterproof" from the outside but catch pee on the inside and you can wash them.  Not sure if they actually work but that's what I read!

  • Swim schools may sell reuseable ones. I know Saint Street Swim sells them in the front office.

I have some that will catch pee.  It's nothing special really--just a waterproof outside with a cloth lining.  The thing I like about it though is if they do get a poo that isn't completely solid, it is less likely to leak out.  Here are the ones I use.

Currently I have a box of little swimmers I bought from Sams. However, I love these that Nanner posted since we are in the pool 2-3 times per week!
