Sorry to report adults definitely can get it although I'm not sure if it is usually in the hand/foot/mouth form. We didn't even know our kids had it- we thought they had ear infections &/or some random illness but then we both got hit with it and felt worse than we've felt in YEARS and were diagnosed w/ herpangina (coxsackie in your throat) and realized that was what the kids had the week before... ughhh. But the hand/foot/mouth kind seems like 10 x's worse so GL & hopefully LO gets over it soon & you dont get it!!! Def lots of hand washing ...
How bad are his sores? Ds's was only bad in his mouth, he only got one little red dot on his foot and nothing on his hands. Hang in there!
So far only in his mouth. They are mostly all down the back of his throat He isn't a big fan of eating right now. I am going to pick up some Popsicles tomorrow.
wellllll if you're lucky maybe he has herpangina & not the hand/foot/mouth kind.....GL! (it's the same virus, just presents differently in different ppl)

Kit, I am really sorry. We just got over it last week. I ended up getting it, too. It sucked but wasn't *horrible*- I kept thinking it could be worse. I hope Monk feels better soon!

Oh no! What were your symptoms? Is it the same (oral lesions)? Now I am all paranoid that I have it. GEEZ.
(and, as an aside, I love the piano playing picture. Your little Schroeder.)
Thank you! He loves that thing. It was supposed to be a birthday present LOL.
I love the image and I love the old fashioned quality of the picture. Looks like ones we had when we were little. I'll volunteer DD as a Lucy to hang out on the piano top. She likes to sing. Loudly.

Butting in but you'd know.... our throats killed (there were round red lesions all over the pharynx/tonsil area) & we felt like we had the flu. But again, affects ppl differently...it is amazing to me that some kids get it and barely even break a fever & other kids get the full hand/foot/mouth blisters. UGH.
We got lucky. Jace and I just had the little ant bite looking bumps on our hands and feet. I was like you and thought I couldn't get it so I wasn't cautious at all. A week later, my bumps developed. Neither of us ever got them in our mouth. I am so sorry that Monk did. I've heard it's so painful and they tend to lose their appetite. I never had a fever but he did for a day or two.
OMG - I thought adults couldn't get it. He was shoving his paci in my mouth earlier.
::facepalm::
That would just be the icing on the mutha trucking cake.
I had it before and it really stinks. I hope you stay healthy and your DS gets better super fast.

It definitely does. DD had it twice. And the 1st time she got it it was just a fever and she stopped eating.. and i took her to the drs and actually saw the blisters on her throat... after a few days she was fine. Just this last wk and a half i noticed spots on her feet.. and her temp was 103.. went to the ER 2 days in a row... and the red bumps spread from her feet all the way to the inside of her mouth in the matter of an hr or 2..
It sucks bc theres nothing they can take for it. Thankfully DD is much better. No fever and no red bumps.
Re: Hand, foot and mouth disease can SUCK IT
Oh no!
Monk has HFM disease?
Ugh is right. That sounds awful, poor guy!
Remember you can get it too and I hear is SUCKS for adults just as much!
Hopefully it passes soon.
Yes Monk has it

Not always, but it can happen, so just make sure you wash your hands like mad!
eta - I'd also avoid his pacis
DH works with a guy that has recurring HFM disease. It is uncommon for adults to contract it but still possible. GL!

Geez I freaking hope so.
