Birth Story~Successful Induction!

I love reading everyones birth stories so I figured I would post mine too! Enjoy!

My doctor scheduled me for an induction on Thursday June 17th at 39 weeks, 1 day. We arrived at the hospital at 4:45am and by 6:00 I was hooked up to the Pitocin. I was in labor with my DS for 20 hours, including 4 hours of pushing so DH and I figured we could go ahead and settle in for a very long day.

My doctor came in to check me at around 7:30. I wasn't really feeling any contractions but the nurse said I was having them regularly about 2-3 minutes apart. The doctor decided to break my water to get things moving along. I was at 4cm when she broke my water. As soon as she broke my water my contractions got very painful and only about a minute apart. They were coming one on top of the other and I was having trouble staying calm and breathing through them. So I decided I might as well go ahead and get my epidural. It took about 30 minutes to kick in but once it did I felt so much better. I could still move my legs (which I couldn't when I got the epi with my DS) and I told the nurse I was feeling a lot of pressure in my pelvis.

The doctor checked me at 10:30 and I was already 8cm! I couldn't believe how fast things were moving along! She said the baby's head was "right there" and to make sure I told my nurse if I started feeling any more pressure. By 11:00 I was feeling a ton of pressure so my nurse checked and we were all shocked to hear that I was at 10cm and ready to push! She called and the doctor said for her to go ahead and have me start pushing and to call her back and let her know how things looked. I pushed once and the nurse was like "Okay do not push anymore her head is right there!" It was sooo hard not to push while I was waiting on the doctor because the pressure was so insane. But finally my doctor arrived and after only 5 pushes Madelyn Grace arrived at 11:32am! She weighed 7 lbs. 10 oz. and was 20 inches long.

We are all so in love! Madelyn is waking up again so I'll have to cut this short. I'll try to post a pic though...
