Care Package Question

One of my good friends just deployed. She's a nurse and so far, she seems to be settling in although her bedding, etc hasn't caught up with her yet. The only thing she has asked for is magazines and chocolate, but what else can I send? Are there specifics on what is not allowed and what is?

She is a very girly girl so I was thinking of sending some Sephora bath stuff (not makeup, but body wash or something). I know she has a tv & dvd player in her room from the last person who was there so I was going to send some chic flicks too. And then magazines of course.

She wanted chocolate but I'm thinking it would melt on the way over.  I have some fun drink mixes like raspberry green tea lemonade (powder to mix with water) and stuff like that which I was going to put in too.

Any suggestions on what else to send?

Thanks!

That site has a lot of useful items. I just send DH a package with qtips, toilet paper, some magazines, bar soap, pics of me and the kiddo. Stuff like that. It really is the simple things :P

I just wanted to add that I sent my husband some chocolate that he requested in the Father's Day package and it was definitely all melted when it reached him a couple of days ago.  He has a mini fridge though so he is hoping that will restore it somewhat.  Maybe your friend can do the same.

Nail polish and "girly:" lip balm.  She can wear polish on her toes and you can get lip balm (with an spf so its a double whammy) that comes in cute flavores or is in more feminine.  Sephora idea is great.

I think the only huge no-no's are alcohol and porn.  Don't send anything to her that you wouldn't want to receive in front of her boss.

I sent DH chips, cookies, DVDs, candy, drink mixes, bedding, toiletries, basically anything he asked for.  The majority of it was food items.  The pillows and sheets he said were terrible, so that was something that he really wanted.

Chocolate will not make it well this time of year.  You could send oreos or some type of chocolate cookies.  The drink mixes are great to send over.  There is a button in my siggy that will link you to the Military Nestie FAQ page.  There are a ton of great ideas for care packages there.

You could also try to do a chocolate cake in a jar.  That would be yummy.

I've suggested this site to friends and they loved it.
