I bought some for Father's Day, but I'm not sure how to prepare it. I also bought portabella mushrooms, which I think I just cook in a pan. I also bought lobster tails. I think I'm supposed to boil or steam them? If anyone is good at cooking and can give me some tips, I'd really appreciate it.
Re: Can anyone tell me a delicious way to cook filet mignon?
As far as the filet mignon I would grill it. Get some montreal seasoning and rub it on both sides and then stick it on the grill.....so good! Also one piece of advice let the meat come up to room temp before you cook it. Take it out of the fridge about an hour before you cook it.
The mushrooms cook in butter on the pan on a low to medium heat untill the are soft. I've never cooked lobster tales but I have heard you are supposed to steam them and adding some old bay seasoning to the water gives them a nice flavour (so I've heard)
Good luck and what time is dinner?? I may stop over LOL!!
Definitely grill & let it come to room temp before putting it on so you dont overcook the outside & have a cold inside. I highly recommend using a meat thermometer so you can make it to the doneness you like (and for a good filet, I'm partially to med rare or 130-ish but that is just me). Also once you take it off, let it rest under some tin foil for about 10-15 min so the juices stay put. It will keep cooking though, so it is best to grill it a couple degrees under what you want if you're going to let it rest.
Lobel's steaks are awesome & I would trust hteir instructions:

GL!
The Pioneer Woman's Steak Bites are amazing! We use sirolion to make them, but I think filet would be good with these too, because you are cooking them for a short amount of time so they won't get over cooked! If you have ever been to a Japanese Steakhouse this is similar to how their steak tastes. Dinner sounds delicious.

Is your lobster tail precooked? If so, you can just reheat it over the grill for a short time. Be careful you don't cook it too long though or it will become rubbery. Drizzle it with some herbed butter when you are done cooking.
As for the portabellos, you can grill them as well. You may want to stuff them too.
Here is a yummy recipe:

For the filet, just rub it with some salt and pepper and grill it. Use a meat thermometer, like PP said. It will help you to get the meat to the correct temp. Remember that it will keep cooking a little bit after you take it off the grill. Also, don't forget to let it rest for 5 min. before you cut into it.
