Cervical cerclage and sex?

This is my second pregnancy, and I had to have a cerclage with my first and now with my second. The first time I remember my doc said no sex for a couple weeks and now with this pregnancy my new doc said no sex for 4 weeks so we waited the four weeks.  My last visit I mentioned to another doc( I have to rotate docs in practice) that my husband can feel poking during sex from the stitch and he told me NO sex! This is the first I have heard of no sex as both my other doctors just had a wait period after the surgery.  Has anybody else had a cerclage and been able to still have sex?  I don't go back to the doc for a month so I want to know now:)

    Unfortunately my perinatologist told me NO SEX and NO ORGASM until we are 34 weeks along. We are 18 weeks today, and I had my cerclage placed at 14 weeks as a preventative measure because I had a daughter stillborn due to IC 5 years ago. I am also curious to see what others have been instructed to do. Thanks for asking.

    NO SEX SUCKS!!! But is so worth it for the end result. Our beautiful babies will be the big payoff.

    mines was a emergent cerclage so no sex at all for me by orders of my peri dr....

    My Ob and my Peri said NO SEX until further notice, most likely until 30 some weeks.

    And want to know the great part? We are getting married in a week and then going on a honeymoon for a week... No sex... :( We'll just have to be thankful for this blessing, we prayed for her after all.

    no sex with a cerclage/no baths either-huge risk of infection.  There are also prostagladins in sperm that can initiate labour/PTL.

    I just had a cerclage placed at 20 weeks and my doctor said no sex at all until they take it out (which is estimated to be around 35 weeks).

    im supposed to be getting the cerclage at 14 weeks due to me having my first daughter early at 18.6 weeks for an incompetent cervix, they said that i couldnt have sex for the duration of the pregnancy mind u im only 7 weeks and my poor DH, i feel so bad for him, now are orgasm considered sex since i use my stomach muscles or is it safe to have those

    was it very risky getting your cerclage at 20 weeks, because i was 18.6 weeks and they didnt wanna risk it maybe because my bag had bulged a lil, had your bag bulged

    My peri said no orgasms or sex. There is a risk of infection with sex. He said as far as the orgasms go: Orgasms cause the uterus to contract which can bring on labor.

    No sex (oral, penetration, or toys), no orgasm, and no baths. Risk of infection and/or PTL is too high.

    BOTH of my dr's (OB and Peri) say no sex. Peri says we can still have organsms. I was told no baths for the first 2 weeks. I still take a bath every day, and I've had my cerclage since 12 weeks (I'm 23 wks now)... No problems but the no sex SUCKS!!

    this exactly...no sex but especially no orgasm since it cause "contractions" of the muscles down there....although he did say NO SEX he said if we decide to do it, do it with caution and not often at all....but NO ORGASM...DH is too afraid to do anything because he worries something bad will happen. With my first I was told 4-6 weeks, but this time none at all.  I too m/c at 21 weeks because of an IC....so I had to have preventative cerclages with my pregnancies.

     It does suck, but the sacrifice outweighs the risk that can be done to our babies. :)
