I ate 2 hot dogs last sunday before I knew they were in the same off-limits category as lunch meat. I know there are people who are pretty relaxed about this restriction... I hope I didn't do any harm to baby!

I am 100% sure you didn't do any harm to your baby eating 2 hotdogs almost a week ago.

the reason they tell you to stay away is nitrates and the slightest possiblity of listeria (though eating them hot will stop that), but a hot dog here and there really isn't going to build up nitrates in your body.

I normally do not do what I am not supposed to do.

But i broke down & ate a hot dog at the movie theatre once...oops. I never got sick. I also ate fried eggs a couple times. I think every so often is fine as long as its cooked.

I've had hot dogs...quite a bit actually. DH is on the Atkins Diet, so it's tough not having a hot dog in there every once in awhile....they smell SO GOOD when he cooks them

My OB didn't put hot dogs on the "don't eat" list.

I also had a corndog as a snack an hour ago, and it was delicious.

as long as you cook them to a temp of at least 140 degrees, they are fine. same goes for lunch meat. not that you normally would cook lunch meat or want to.... but thats the rule of thumb. 140 degrees.

WTH is wrong with fried eggs? I eat eggs all the time. I would think runny sunny side up eggs, yes, that might be not ok, but if you're frying 'em? Yumm.

Eww bad corn dog story for ya. My husband and I are in the rodeo business (hence always concession stands around). One night after the rodeo, I saw the vendor taking all the old cornbread off that night's corn dogs so they could save the "dogs" for the next night. It ruined my love of corn dogs. : (
