I'm starting my lists of everything I'd like to register for.. and I'm having a hard time deciding on how many registries to have and how many items to put on each registry.. I will definitely have a Target registry, but can't decide if I should add a Babies R Us registry, too.
How many registries do/will you have? Where are you registered? and how many items on each?
another reason I'm asking is because I plan on registering for two different strollers.. a jogging stroller and a "regular" one. I won't register for super expensive of either, but still they are higher ticket items and I was thinking if I put one on each registry it would be a little less offensive? maybe I'm overthinking this...
Re: another registry etiquette poll.. non-clicky
Check out myregistry.com you can create one account for all registries imaginable. It's a free sign up and you install a 'Add To My Registry' button that you can just click when you see items from anywhere online. You also set up passwords so visitors can have access to all the items you choose! I hope this helps, I think it's wonderful myself! LOL
2 registries, target and amazon. Target just doesn't have enough of a selection. Rpobably 50 items on each
If there's something you want, put it on there. The completion discount at the end makes it worth adding. Since it's just a wishlist...I don't think anyone would look down on two strollers or more expensive items. They don't need to buy it for you.
The only registry items that bug me are ones with tons of blankets and clothes. I woudln't bother registering for those, unless you have a specific swaddling style blanket you want to use.. etc.
I think 2 is a good number, it gives people and option of where they want to shop.
I don't think have several higher priced items on one registry is offensive as long as they are lots of things in the other price categories as well.
Start at Target and make that your main registry. If there is anything that they don't have in store that BRU does, then add that to the BRU registry along with other items that you need more than one of.
I, too, have 2 registries. We were against using BRU because of convenience for our family/friends.
We have one at Target (where we have about 50 things on the registry) and Amazon (where we have about 25 things on the registry). We already received presents before we registered - like our stroller from my ILs and the crib set, monitors and bouncer from my parents. It made our registries a little smaller than the average one.
On Target they recommend a certain # of registered items per $$ level. It will help you out a lot.
I think 2 registries is fine. 2 strollers is fine too as long as they aren't 2 Buaggaboos or whatever.
I think we are doing BRU but I may put a few items onto Amazon too since my aunts live OOT and will want easy shipping.
Okay this changes my answer a little, I was going to say BRU is easier LOL. Makes sense that you like Target better though. I was going to say that you should register at both since some people might live closer to one or the other. It's really up to you, the people who don't shop on registries aren't going to if you have one registry or 5. I had a really good experience at BRU and they do tend to have more in store, that's nice for people like me who wait until the last minute to shop and don't have time to wait for some thing that has to be ordered on line.

A stowaway on board!
I live in a city with both- so I did both Babies R Us and Target. Most of my big items are at Babies R Us because they are actually available to people in the store and most of my Target preferred items are on-line only.
GL!
I had 2 -- BRU and Wal-Mart.
BRU because they obviously have the most stuff of varied prices, and Wal-Mart because most of our families live in rural areas and the closest BRU is an hour away.

I started a BRU registry online and ended up deleting it because most everything I was picking out was available at Wal-Mart or Target for $5-$10 cheaper. I figure that most people live closer to a Wal-Mart or Target than they do a BRU and if I can make it cheaper/convenient for my guests they more likely they are to gift me the things that I need. Not being greedy, just practical.
We are going with myregistry.com too if anything for the cloth diapers and a lot of the ecofriendly small furniture pieces. Someone posted about their iphone barcode scanner a few weeks ago (I am trying to search for it but can't find it sorry about that) and I definitely made a note of it (don't have an iphone which presents a problem but getting the new one when it comes out thanks to my lovely lovely DH!
)
But yea universal registries are the way to go if you want to avoid the whole tacky/not tacky age-old question!
