Single Parents

Minimum of 5 years (vent)

I introduced myself last week but for those who missed it here is a little info on me: I am 26 and now a single mom to be. My husband was arrested for going to a park to meet what he thought was an under-age girl (really an undercover officer.)

I have spent the past 10 days trying to put my life back together as much as possible. I am lucky to have a great family behind me.

Yesterday I found out they are moving his case to federal court b/c of something they found on the computer. I don't know what, nor do I want to. All I know and need to know is he faces a minimum of 5 years.

I know some of you ladies have been through some really tough times as well. It is just hard to make sense of the whole situation. I am going to counseling once a week and a big part of me is releived that he will most likely be in prison by the time this baby girl is born.

I don't have much else to say other then I want to make sure this little girl has the best life possible. This is just something nobody prepares for...

  • Maybe I missed it in the first post, but you are divorcing him, right?

  • Are you in GA?  I was divorced last year while pregnant.  Can you at least get the process started?

It sounds like you are taking the right course of action. What a terrible thing to happen. I have watched Dateline specials where similar things happen, and I can't imagine what it is like for the family of the offender. There are a couple ladies here with X's in prison or headed there, so I'm sure they could offer some advice or share stories. I hope everything works out for you.
  • I'm sorry you are going thru this... I wish I had some great words of wisdom to offer, but all you can do is take it one day at a time.

  • Really sorry you're going through this. I can't imagine how hard it must be. Keep your head up, everything will work out. It WILL be hard at first, but it will get better. Stay strong!

::raises hand as being one of these ladies::

I think you are definitely doing the right thing.  I understand what it is like to have been with someone you THOUGHT you knew, only to find out that they were living a secret life the whole time.

I am glad he will have a minimum of five years, that is where he belongs.

My XH has been involved in drugs and that's why he is likely headed to the clink, lnbohac's STBXH is incarcerated now and she is trying to finalize her divorce.  She may be able to offer insight.

Not the right thing to say maybe, but welcome.  This board is very supportive.

  • Unfortunately, I have a lot of experience dealing with the Ohio courts and prisons due to a husband who was arrested for something along the same lines.  Feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions.
