i'd wait until further along in your pregnancy - going to things while pg would get boring to me if I did it for that long... since you don't have your twins yet to compare things to, ask questions about, etc.
but yes- i belong to one- and many pg women come to events - and i think they get a lot out of it. I enjoy it... it's nice to be around a group of people all giong through the same thing - and a group of people who don't look at you like you are a freak
Its $20 a year, we meet once a month for 'mom only' meetings, and we have 3-5 playgroups a month (more in the summer)
I have been a member since I was 16 weeks pregnant.
It is wonderful too because at the playgroups, there are always extra hands and eyes to watch out for kids. And they ALL know what you are going through!
What is IRL? ....... I just joined my local Mother of Twins group which has dwindled over the years, and before my first meeting recruited one other member who I met in the mall when my LO's were a week old. They asked me to be their Recording Secretary. I'm looking foward to the fall when we start meeting up again,(we only meet Sept-May) and am glad that we don't meet again until then since my LO's have been CRANKY lately!
I agree, the playgroups and extra activities won't be all that fun or exciting when you are still pregnant, but the monthly meetings were extremely helpful. It was worth it just to go to those and get to know all the other MoMs. They had wonderful tips and tricks for me, and they even had a mini baby shower at the last meeting before my C/S.
It helped hearing from other MoMs who have been there and survived LOL
I just joined, I waited until I was out of the first tri. The group I joined doesn't have offical meetings in June and July- but have a regular monthly meeting other months. They also have parties, moms night out, playgroups, and a HUGE biannual resale. There is also a yahoo group/message board and newsletter. It is a really active group. I look forward to the group!
I'm a member of my local MOTC and I think it's definitely worth joining to see how you like it. My club does have "New and Expecting MoMs Night Out" every month so if yours has something like that, I think that would be a fun way to network and meet other women going through the same stuff you are.
Re: do you belong to an IRL MoM's group?

in real life.
I kind of consider this an online MoM group
yes, I belong to 4 moms groups, LOL.
1 if for multiples, 1 for new mommies and 2 are regular playgroups. The last2 are the busy, super active ones.
