Baby Monitor

Ok, I'm usually a lurker, but I have a question on baby monitors. I am 35 weeks pregnant and trying to wrap up our last minute purchases.  Baby will sleep in our room for the first few weeks, but then will move to the nursery ~50 - 75 feet away from our master bedroom.  I was curious what your thoughts and recs were on baby monitors?  Do we need the fancy video screens, are they really worth it? I would love any input Smile

Re: Baby Monitor

  • Our nursery is right next to the master bedroom but we still got a video monitor-they really are worth the money.  It's so nice because I can be all the way downstairs doing laundry or doing dishes, etc and I can see DS right there.  It's almost like he's next to me-gives me total piece of mind.  I can even see him breathing on the screen-so so worth it!

    Here's the one we have

  • I LOVE our video monitor. It is definitely a must have for me. I barely ever use the sound part but I can always turn it on to see what DD is doing. It was definitely worth the money.

  • SO worth getting one!!  Ours is the Summer Night and Day monitor and we LOVE it.  We live in a tiny place, but at night it is extremely helpful to be able to check out the monitor when the baby makes a sound rather than get up and go check on him.  When you're sleep deprived, an extra 5 minutes of not getting up feels like a luxury, and with the number of grunts our lo makes when he's still sleeping would keep me running to his side if I didn't have the monitor to look at.  GET ONE!!!!!  It will keep you sane :-)

  • we just have a cheap sony one. We love it. At this point a video monitor would be pointless since she really can't do anything. If we find it would be helpful when she's older we'll invest in one at that point.
  • We also have the day and night and love it. We have a 2-level house and it transmits perfectly throughout. I think the video is worth the extra peace of mind to be able to see her. Plus it keeps me from constantly going in to check on her since we just started her in the nursery this week.

  • i have the summer infant slim & secure monitor as well and i LOVE it!!!  the sound is great and i can see when she wakes up.  she makes a ton of noises in her sleep and if i couldnt see her, i would be checking on her every 2 minutes.  DEFINITELY worth the money!!!  :)
