Baby Showers

Shower game ideas?

I know there are a zillion on the web, but I thought I'd ask here. I'm planning a work shower for a coworker. This is the 3rd coworker to have a baby shower within the last year. We usually do it during lunch and have 2 games. With one coworker we played a game like memory, where there were things on a board (Baby Laundry, Contractions, etc.) and if you got a match you won a corresponding candy (Baby Laundry = Mounds; Contractions = Good and Plenty, etc.). We also played the ribbon game to guess how big the mama is around. For another coworker we did guess who with baby pictures, and also a trivia about the mama (what did she crave, nickname for baby, etc.).

The only ones my coworker said she DOESN'T want are any that involve baby food or melted candy in diapers, or any that involve samples of baby food (like where you guess what they are).

So what are some favorites, that are also quick (maybe about 15-20 minutes max)?

Thanks!

  • How many diaper pins in a jar (or M&M's).  You can also do a "lottery".  They write down what they think baby's weight and length will be (also can include the date baby will be born if not a c-seciton where they already know the exact date).  Once the baby is delivered the person closest wins whatever.
  • Loading the player...
  • There is one where you empty a bag of cotton balls into a oversized bowl (like a chip bowl) and blind fold the players, hand them a spoon and tell them to get as many cotton balls as they can into a smaller bowl set right next to the bigger bowl. The funniest part is that they can't feel the cotton balls since they are weightless and your other guests will enjoy watching their friends scoop spoonfuls of nothing into a bowl. The guest who gets the most cotton balls into the bowl wins a prize.

  • My shower host did one of celebrity moms.  Each person had a name tag of a famous mom on their back (and I had my own name).  You ask questions to the other guests about the person on your back to guess who it is.

Example: Heidi Klum, Michelle Obama, Bella Swan, etc

Is she on TV?  Is she a model? Is she married? Does many kids?  Real person or fiction?

  • I had the same requests as your mommy to be about the food games. So my hostess did gift bingo and a version of the newlywed game where she asked questions pertaining to my pregnancy (like, what is the name of the mommy's diaper bag? We "named" it Petunia. What was mommy's first pregnancy craving?) Each guest had one question with 4 possible answers, if they got it right, their name was put in a drawing to win a prize. I held up cards with the correct answers on them and it was a lot of fun. The guests commented and joked and it was a great ice breaker.

Not sure if either of those would work at a shower for a coworker, but I thought I would throw them out there anyways.

  • since it is at work don't do any gross diaper/bottle stuff.

Is she opening gifts?  Then set a timer and whomever's gift she is opening when the timer goes off gets a prize.

I'd go with baby bingo (you can google for templates) or no games at all!

I'm a big fan of The Price is Right where people guess how much things cost (either individually or in a game show format) or Jeopardy.

  • This isn't a game, more of an activity- we made an alphabet book at my shower. My host created pages with each letter of the alphabet on it, then let people choose which one they wanted to decorate. Throughout the shower, everyone used markers to draw things like 'p is for polka dot,' 's is for sunshine,' etc. It was the hit of the shower. My favorite part is that our LOs first Abc book has pictures drawn by people like her great grandmother, all of her grandmothers and aunts... all of the important women in my/her life. Pretty priceless :)
