Would you take a newborn to a movie theater?

I am planning on taking Soleil with us when I take Calista to see Toy Story 3. We are going to go tomorrow to a matinee with my SIL and her boys. I am nervous how Soleil will do. I am just hoping if she gets fussy I can just nurse her and hope she sleeps. Anyone else do this?

  • My sister did, we all went to How To Train Your Dragon. She slept till almost the end and my sister fed her, she did fine.

  • We took DS to a movie when he was very young. I made sure we went during the day during the week and after the movie had already been out for a while (so there weren't so many people there). DS did great! He slept most of the time and when he was awake he wasn't fussy at all. Smile GL!

  • I'm taking the kids to see Toy Story 3 tomorrow with a friend. DS is 2.5 months. I figure if he gets fussy, I'll take him out and DD can stay with my friend and her son. We aren't doing 3D, just the regular movie.

  • We took E&G a few times in the fall (1-2 mos old). They did just fine. I had bottles ready, but I don't recall them even making a peep.

We're not taking them to TS3...they're too mobile and don't like being confined anymore.

  • I took Ryan (3 weeks old) to a movie yesterday but it was a movie designed for moms and babies... lights on dim, lowered volume, lots of babies crying, etc.  Ryan slept the whole time until the end and then I nursed him and he went right back to sleep.  The only think I'd be worried about in a regular movie showing is that the volume is pretty loud and if you go by yourself and have to get up with the baby, you can't leave your other kid(s) there without you.

  • I took Reid to the Blind side and he slept or nursed the entire time. It was perfect.

Now the people that brought their 2yo to the Karate Kid (2.5hrs) last Sunday,  I wanted to throat punch them.

  • Since it's a matinee AND a kids' movie, I wouldn't be worried about her potential crying bothering anyone else. I would be more worried about the impact of high decibel noise for that length of time on a newborn. Overstimulating in my opinion.

This.  I was thinking about taking both DSs but worry about the loudness for DS2 (6w)
