We've been putting Charlotte to bed between 10 and 11 since she was born. We have tried numerous times to get her to go to bed earlier, but she pretty much refuses. Lately, even 10 seems to be too early for her and she doesn't quite settle down to sleep until closer to 11. This seems ridiculous to me. Should she be going to sleep at like 8 or 9? Am I the only one with this problem?
Re: What time does your LO go to bed?
At this point, our lo isn't in her bed for the night until at least 11:00. I start her routine (short: change, swaddle, nurse) between 11 and 11:30 most nights.
I let her do a little catnap around 9:00, then get her up for a bit. I've tried putting her down when she gets tired around 9, but she just takes a nap and is up again.
If I try to put her down earlier, it means going in and out of her room until that time anyway, so it's not worth it to me.
I figure I'll keep trying to push it earlier, and eventually it'll work. This exact same thing happened with our first, and I can't remember when she went to an earlier bed time, but it wasn't too long. I think her biological clock is just on a later schedule right now.
Lately? 5 am. Ugh.
I have tried and tried and tried to get her to go to bed at a reasonable hour, but she has her days and nights mixed up apparently. She was doing so well going to sleep at 11 pm and then a couple of nights ago, she stayed up until 5 am and has been making a habit of it. We are in the process of trying to reiterate day and night with her by keeping the lights down low at night, making it quiet, and not making eye contact or playing with her. Nothing has worked so far, but I'm sticking to it until she turns herself around.
On the plus side, she does STTN, it's just not nighttime when she does!
I start working on getting him ready for bed around 11, it can take hours before he's actually asleep in his bed. Tonight he ate at 11, I put him in his bed at 1130, and he just fell asleep about 10 minutes ago. He was very content just laying in his bed nomming away on his paci. Thank goodness, its been a VERY long day! He'll generally sleep 5+ hours before waking to eat again.
I can't imagine starting the bedtime routine earlier because DH and I are night people. Also if I put him to bed before 9 DH would get very little time with DS since he's usually at work until at least 830pm.
We all go to bed between 9:30-11. DS won't go to sleep without us yet, and we're cosleeping. Luckily DH and I are tired enough that that time works fine.
Granted I can't sleep lately, so while my LO is sleeping just fine with his dad, I'm awake til all hours. Sheesh.
between 9 and 9:30. she has a bath around 8:30 then a bottle. the bath really helps relax her and get her ready to go to sleep.
