I produce a newsletter that is distributed to about 1500 employees electronically. I am no graphic designer or marketing expert by any stretch of the imagination. I've fuddled my way through MS Publisher (all I have on my work PC) to produce it. We include a LOT of photos in it and end up saving the file in .pdf to help make it a little smaller. I think last one was 11MB and my territory has expanded so I expect it to be bigger.
Are any of you familiar with a program in which I can produce a nice newsletter (including photos) that doesn't save as a HUGE file? Or, at least smaller than Publisher. Or if there is a way to produce a web-zine type newsletter?
Re: NBR - software for newsletter?
When I worked for a printing company we strictly used QuarkXpress, but it's an extensive program to learn. You also have InDesign by Adobe. I haven't tried that yet but it works great with the other Adobe programs.
If you are looking for something simple, have you tried looking at Microsoft Office templates online? Some are in Word & it might be easiest to modify a template. How many pages is it usually?
The full version of Acrobat can reduce PDF file sizes?it compresses the document somehow.
I'm a former graphic designer (sigh... long story) and I still do some work for my parents' business in Quark (never learned InDesign) and Acrobat.
