I've noticed from poking around on posts, new and old, that a lot of people mention going through a lot of tests from their doctor after a loss. Sorry to be kind of ignorant being new to this, I'm not sure what all the tests mentioned are for. This just caught me off guard a little, since my doctor told me that since miscarriages are so common, that with this only being my first there was no reason to think it would happen again, and I have not had any tests at all. I had a missed miscarriage at 15 weeks, went to hear the heartbeat and there was none, had a D&C, baby measured around 11-12 weeks, went in for a check-up after the D&C 2 weeks later and was told to just wait one cycle before TTC, and thats been it. My doctor just said that hopefully she would see me soon, otherwise my normal yearly appt. would be in Sept. I guess it just makes me wonder why other people's doctors seem to be much more "involved" and that makes me worry. Does this make sense??

they don't usually do any testing unless you've had 3 m/c. My Dr told m the same thing he/she told you.
Usually when you hit 3 early losses, you go in for a Repeated Loss Panel.
Basically tests you for genetic issues that may be causing your losses.
You're right. Miscarriages are quite common, unfortunately.
If it makes you feel any better, with my first loss, I was treated in a very similar manner. It was down to plain bad luck. With this second loss I'm going through right now, it's a completely different reason, so once again, it's being pinned down to bad luck.
I know this sounds awful, but one miscarriage doesn't make an infertile. I hope everything goes well in your TTC journey.
My doctor told me the same thing after my first m/c. She told me it was a fluke and that it would probably never happen again. I was stupid enough to believer her, but she was wrong.
I had testing done after my fourth m/c. Most doctors won't do any testing until after at least 2 m/c. Many insurance companies will not cover any testing until after three.
I didn't have any testing after my m/c other than blood tests to confirm that all the pregnancy hormone (HcG) was out of my system - meaning that they got everything out with the D&C and miscarriage was officially "over". I don't think they're all that concerned with your first m/c if you're relatively young and have no other complications.
Hope that helps and don't feel different!
