Cramps after holding in your pee?

I'm at 6wks pg, and man...those pee frequency during the night keeps increasing every week. Is it going to get worse?

Also after peeing, I get slight cramps around the lower abdomen that last about 20 minutes. Does anyone get the same symptoms as me? This only happens at night during my sleep. I think it's because I am holding on to my pee for a little longer than usual.

Re: Cramps after holding in your pee?

  • I get cramps if I hold it too long, but they usually go away after I pee. I actually had a UTI about 10 weeks and didnt know it. My MD told me after she tested my urine

  • yes. When I was around 6 weeks I had cramps when I would hold my pee in too long. This stopped after a few weeks so hopefully yours will too. GL.

  • I actually had that really bad in 3rd tri. I'm assuming its just the full bladder envading the ute's turf and pissing it off a bit.

  • What about some cramping during a cough or sneeze?
  • I am five weeks and experiencing the same exact thing, word for word. Cramping in lower abdomen if I wait to pee, clears up about 20 min post- pee. I'm going to discuss it at my OB appt. Monday, but my good ol mom says its completely normal and nothing to be concerned over.
  • I totally know what you are talking about! I am currently 9w4d I have those cramps before and after I went pee. Last week I ended up going to the doctor because "google" told me it could be an UTI.

So I went, pee'd in a cup. Doctor came in and told me my urine was fine and that I was just pregnant.

    Haha so congrats!

  • Oh good b/c I feel like it's doing something bad when I sneeze or cough.  So frustrating.  It's so comforting to know that people out there are experiencing the same things.

I've noticed that some of the board pages the women can be nasty.  I've noticed nothing but wonderful encouragment and peace on this board.  It's great!

If you bladder is really full (like when you've been holding it all night long) it can move your uterus a tiny bit.  Our bodies are so sensitive that when you urinate and empty your bladder your uterus will shift back into place.  It's totally common to feel this.  The peeing will get worse, but the cramps probably won't.  Eventually your baby will get so big and heavy - and your bladder will be so small and squashed that you couldn't fill it enough to budge that uterus if you tried!  lol
