3rd Trimester

What do you think of prenatal massages?

I keep hearing mixed reviews, I was thinking about scheduling one for next week! My sis & I were chatting on FB and a girl made a comment (she is a couple weeks behind me in pregnancy) how the closest she will get to a massage is a chiro adjustment and swimming??? Is there something I don't know about massages being bad for pregnant women?Huh?

  • I loved it. There is a hole in the table for your belly so you can lie flat for part of it...it is so relaxing. I think it is totally worth it to do a few times.
  • Massage is great for your body-I have no idea why that girl thinks otherwise.
  • I had one last weekend and it was wonderful! Yes it is no normal massage because you are on one side or the other the whole time but it was defintiely relaxing for me. Nothing wrong with getting a massage while pg just make sure you go to someone that has experience giving them.

This! It was the best thing ever! I think some ppl worry because of "pressure points" or whatever. But if you get a massage done by someone who is licensed in prenatal massage, then there is absolutely no negative side to it that I can think of :). Go and enjoy!

  • An hour of pure heaven!  Worth every cent.  I have been going every week for the past 6 weeks.  I see someone who specializes in prenatal massage and only sees pregnant women.

  • I had mine yesterday and it was fantastic! I loved laying on my belly for half of it :)
  • I think they are great if you go to someone who specializes in doing them.  I go to someone who specializes in them, and she has me lay on my side. She says the kind where you lay on your stomach w/ the cutout for your belly on the board puts undue stress on your uterine muscles and isn't safe.

I had one and wasn't thrilled with it. I got them before I was pregnant and I loved having sore muscles really worked over. The prenatal was boring and didn't really do anything. I don't like just having some oil rubbed on me.

  • As far as I'm concern massages and deluxe luxury foot pedicures are the best relief you can get while pregnant. Surprised you've waited this long into your pregnancy to get one!!! :)

  • Loved it and I am going back for another!
