Quad Cities Babies

Hello!

I guess I am sort of new, sort of a lurker :-).  I am due November 1st, live in Princeton, teach kindergarten in Davenport, and that is about it in a short, simple intro!

I was hoping you would have some advice about strollers.  I was checking out the nurseries and baby gear page for recommendations.  However, all the BOB, City Mini, Peg Perego, Chicco, Uppa Vista, etc, seem SOOO expensive!  I really want a jogging stroller with an attachment for an infant car seat.  Can I do this for about $200 without sacrificing quality??  Or do we just bite the bullet and get one of the above?  Any suggestions?

 Thanks!

Re: Hello!

  • Welcome!

I believe most InStep strollers are car seat compatible and they seem to be in the $150-200 range (assuming you know that's what you're going to have to pay for the jogger alone.  The car seat/travel system will almost always be at an additional cost).  Here is a link to one I found.  It lists the car seats it's compatible with.

However, here's something to think about.  Unless you're going to be running indoors, you probably won't have to have the infant seat compatibility at all.  By the time it's nice enough to run outside (mid-March?), your little one will be 4 months-ish and could be big enough to ride in the stroller without the infant seat.  By the time she was that age, my DD loved sitting up in the stroller so she could see better.  Anyway, just my two cents.

Feel free to stick around and let us know if you have any questions.

  • Welcome!

DH and I are totally confused on what to do about strollers.  I think he has spent more time than most women do at BRU and Burlington Coat Factory trying out the different strollers- it's sweet that he is so interested, but it just makes us more confused on what to get.

I was considering a jogging stroller, but then thought about the practicality of pushing it while I am running- do I really have that much coordination!?  I barely want to hold my ipod while running, much less push something, so I am worried it would be a waste of money for me.  I might just join the Y and run on the tiny track while baby is in the nursery.  I know that doesn't help answer your question, but something to think about!

  • Welcome to the board!

I don't have a jogging stroller but I wanted to say we bought the Chicco travel system, I waited to use a $10 off every $50 you spend at BRU and it wasn't much over $200. Once my DD was 6 months old she has went directly in the stroller though since she was sick of the confinement of the car seat.

  • Thank you for all the information!  We are still at a loss as what to do!  We found a jogging stroller at Burlington Coat Factory for $100 with a matching carseat for $80.  It seemed really nice, but I want to do some investigating and see what kind of ratings/reviews it has.

I had seen in the IN step Safari one before and really liked it, and it doesn't seem too costly.  I would like to check out the Chicco, but I got scared off because of the price!  However it would be better if you had the $10 off every $50.

I just don't want to end hating the stroller we get and wasting money getting a different kind!

    Thanks for the help!
