I created this post because DH found his dream job.... But, it's in Boston! He has a connection there so the chances of him getting the job are pretty good. I moved to STL to be with DH while we were dating long distance, but I always hoped that we'd move closer to my home town someday. Boston would be further away from home, but I think I'm up for it! It sounds new and exciting!

This is tough because we just bought a home and are remodeling-- it would kill me to have to move!! But DH's happiness is pretty important. (Luckily, DH already has his dream job... so we're good)

I will have to face this in the next year or two My husband is currently a full time student and will be applying to veterinary school once he gets his bachelor's degree. There's only one vet school around us and apparently it's harder to get into than medical school. So while I am really hoping he gets into the school around here, I will relocate so he can pursue a career he will be happy with.

DH relocated to DC (my hometown) for me. I'd certainly be willing to relocate but it would still need to meet some of my criteria. No offense to you Pierre, SD folks but I ain't moving there!
Fairly large city - not just because I like museums, culture, dining, shopping, etc. of a larger city but also because, given what I do for a living, I need a fairly large city.
Climate - I'm not terribly picky but AK or, say, Houston aren't terribly popular with me.
Family or friends - I'd really like to at least know some people in our new town/area
Salary/cost of living - This isn't too big an issue for us since we live in one of the more expensive COL areas but I would prefer to not have to reduce our lifestyle due to the move.
Of course none of these are non-negotiables... just things I'd consider when thinking about a move to his dream job.
Yes, but I think we move more than most people to begin with. Since we started dating we have already relocated 4 different times to 3 states for each other's various school and career choices. (Typed as I sit here in a city I have only lived in for 2 months because I got a better job.)
GL to your DH!

i chose special snowflake because i married DH knowing we would be relocated for the rest of his career. So even if we both love where we are, its the military's choice on when and where we will move again. We have already relocated twice in a year and a half. I don't mind it, the only hard part is making new friends every time we move.

Psalm 139:13,15-16 You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother's womb... You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.
I've moved all over the place, even internationally, to allow my husband to pursue the job of his dreams. I'm pretty employable anywhere, so I don't mind. AND I love moving. I grew up in a military family, so going somewhere new every 2 years was de rigeur. It's in my blood!
12 long, hard years of TTC- Miscarriages, losses, lots of treatments & drugs & IVF
Natural BFP (WTF?!) - 06/04/11 ~ lots of complication and drama, but sweet baby Adele born 02/07/12!

I voted I'd go anywhere. There is one exception though, moving back home to where is parents are. We did that once, it was hell for both of us. Not willing to do it again.
Good luck Mocha, I hope things work out for you either way.

This! I moved 4 times in the past 3 years and will be moving again in about 3 months. Making new friends is definitely hard though especially when you know you're only going to be in a location for a few months! Good luck with your decision.

I said no but we have extenuating circumstances.. DH's daughter lives in this area with her Mom so I wouldn't want to move far enough away that we wouldn't be able to continue our normal parenting time schedule.

In theory I would be willing to move anywhere for DH.
In reality we just bought a new house and it would cost us too much to move.
