Review of "Belly Laughs"

I received Jenny McCarthy's "Belly Laughs" yesterday in the mail and literally read the whole thing last night. Its not very scientific, actually not at all, but it really gives a good perspective of the gross parts of pregnancy from her POV. It also definitely makes you feel better knowing that almost every crappy thing that could happen to Jenny did, and that we are not alone in feeling fat and icky at times.

I also laughed out loud several times, so I would say if you can borrow it or don't mind splurging on a cheap copy from amazon, definitely read it.

  • Yes  I agree.  That book was great!  More entertaining than informative but definitely makes you feel like you aren't alone!

  • I bought it but haven't started it yet, it looked like some nice light hearted reading.  Now I'm excited to curl up on the couch and read it one of these nights.

  • I completely agree! I read it over an afternoon this past weekend and it was nice to know that other people are going through the same things (or worse!). I laughed out loud several times as well. It really eased my mind too. I really enjoyed it :)

  • Yes Totally agree!! It was the first book I read on pregnancy.  I also read it in a day and laughed out several times.  It made me feel good knowing that even a celebrity goes through the same gross things! I look forward to reading "Baby laughs".

  • I too loved this book!  I'm pregnant with my first baby but am very bored of the scientific books.  I nannied for 7 years so I am very familiar with pregnant woman!  I loved hearing the real stories of what is going to happen to me!  Not the sugar coated that you read in the books!
  • Thanks for the review! I'll be getting a copy of this now...sounds great. Smile

i'll agree that it was very informative and funny at parts, but i also found it to be a bit negative. not that i'm all earth mother pregnancy is the best thing EVER, but i was a little bit down until i read the part when she finally sees her son for the first time - but that was only a few sentences.
