Where did you register?

I have one going at BRU. I have thought about amazon.com and Target. I like that you can still get some of the free shipping on amazon.com but living in this town, do you think it's a mistake not to register at Target? This is coming from someone who shops there multiple times/week. I'm just wondering if I do some of the smaller items there, since most of their bigger stuff is only online and they're + shipping, if that's all people will consider for showers. Thoughts?

Re: Where did you register?

  • I did the same thing. I registered at BRU and am going to do a lot of the smaller stuff at target. Like you I shop there at least 2 or 3 times and week and I mean there is always a target around for someone to get to. Target also will give you a goodie bag when you register there.

  • I registered for most of the big stuff (car seat, stroller, pack-n-play, etc.) at BRU and everything else at Target.  I received my complete Target registry at my shower and only one thing from BRU.  I would say that it is a must to register at Target as it is just more convenient for most people.
  • I did most of my registry at Babies R Us, but also registered at Target.  No everyone lives by a BRU, but everyone is near a Target.  I did the majority of the large items at BRU, but put the PnP, Swing, Bouncer and a bunch a smaller items at Target.  I also registered for some of the same items at both stores, mostly things that I would need multiples of.

  • We registered at both BRU and Target.  Like pp, not everyone is close to a BRU.  Even for us, it's 30 minutes away with good traffic where Target is 10 minutes.

We did a lot of the smaller stuff at Target but also doubled up on mattress pads, sheets, diapers, wipes, etc.

It was extremely overwhelming!  I would take the wedding registering any day over the baby stuff.

  • Thanks for the info. ladies, that helps.

Mrs.Raz, I agree. I hate baby registering. I keep trying to get it finished and just get crabby because I know there are some things we need and some things that will be nice, but I'm so anxious about ending up with crap that doesn't work b/c it's so cheap and also ending up with a bunch of stuff we don't need. I just keep running back to the hardware store where things make sense to me! Since we're still working on our house, I have reason to go there too. But I HAVE to get this registry done b/c my showers are starting soon.

  • We only registered at Target. We registered at Daytons, Target and Kohls when we got married, which was a lot of work. Turned out most of our guests shopped at Target, so I only registered at Target for baby. Back at that time Target and BRU really overlapped on their products. The only thing I really wanted at BRU was our travel system and so I planned to buy that ourselves.
