Low fluid?

For those of you who've been diagnosed with this, what numbers concerned your doctor?

My levels have always been kind of average or high - around 15 or so.  This past u/s they were at 8.  When they remeasured, they came up with 10.2.

My OB didn't seem concerned.  He said to take it easy and drink a lot of water.  We have another u/s in a week, and he said that the levels wouldn't drop dangerously low before then.

But, of course, I'm worried.  Everything else with the baby looked good.  What has been your experience?  What have you done to get your levels up?

Thanks!

Re: Low fluid?

  • Mine has consistently been 10 since I resealed. Anything higher than 8 is normal. I wouldn't worry too much, just something to watch.

I was put on bedrest after a 24-hour hospitalization, when mine dropped to a 5.66. My Dr. says the cut-off is 5 for safety reasons... I've been in the 7 or 8 range ever since, so I stay on bed rest for a little while longer.

But bottom line, Dr. says 5 is the magic number... If I had dropped to a 4.99, I would have been induced on the spot, even if I was pre-term. Hope that helps!

  • Thanks ladies!  That helps me feel a little better.  Now to wait until Monday - hopefully the numbers go up not down!
