?'s on first haircuts for the LO's ...

Yes, the inevitable has happened, it's just too darn hot here for him to keep all his curly Q's and we are about to reach that 1 year mark....sooooo.

How did you cut your LO's hair?  did you use scissors? did you use clippers?  did you do it or did you have a hairstylist do it?  did he/she freak out?

TIA  :o)

  • Oh goodness - another milestone!

I'm no help since I have a girl and her hair is still so short.  Although I know Jen just got Jace's hair cut recently.

  • We actually went to one of those kids places. I knew he would be too squirmy and crying to attempt it here. He actually loved it. They have cars and trucks for them to sit in and they have a dvd player so they are distracted. He cried when they broke out the electric shaver but overall he was great and well worth it!
  • I guess one's baby would need to HAVE hair first, right?

    LOL

    Good luck!!!!

I have friends who've taken their LO's to a kiddie place where the LO got to see in a car or something. Super cute photo ops!! :D

Not something we would attempt at our house.  We brought the boys to a kid place for their first cut's.  Now with the older boys my husband will attempt to cut their hair.. but it is not easy - they move around way too much!

I had a pro do it.  I can't draw a straight line with a ruler so imagine what I would do to my kids' hair!!  I went to a kids' place some local nesties recommended, Cool Cuts 4 Kids (a national chain actually) and they did a great job.

  • Thank you all.  Has anyone ever heard of Cartoon Cuts ?  It seems to be the only place I could find locally...

  • i'm going to take the twins probably in another week - they just turned 1 and are getting mullet head - but i want to wait until after their party on Saturday - so they'll still look like babies at their party - b/c once it's cut they look so "big boy" to me!

we go to a children's salon - Snip It's - it's a chain - they do a great job and Griffin loves going there.

  • We just took DD for her first haircut yesterday at 2.8 years old.  (She was bald until about 2).  Anyway, she has watched both of us get haircuts before, and finally was at the point where she was saying, "No clips mommy, I want a haircut".....BUT....she starting freaking out on the way to the hairstylist and while she was there.  We had to promise her a special treat if she was brave (ice cream and cheddar bunnies) and she calmed down after she realized it wasn't so scary and it didn't hurt.  Good Luck!  Don't forget to take pics and save some hair for your baby book!
  • I have no advice since I have a girl and she's never had a haircut, but I'm sad because I LOVE Nicholas's hair.  Seriously pink puffy heart it.  Sad
