Best place to rent a breast pump?

Let's talk breast pumps!

I already own a PIS.  I am considering buying a lactina.  If I do not buy a lactina, I am wondering what kind of rates you girls are finding around town for breast pump rentals (lactina or symphony).  I believe the rental rate at Scurlock Pharmacy (I work for Methodist) is $45 / month.  I probably can't get much better than that but I figure it's worth asking.

TIA for your help!!

  • Friends have rented from both the Motherhoodr Center and A Woman's Work but I'm not sure of rates.

  • Some lactation consultants rent them out, too!

  • A Woman's Work is 69/mo or 273. for 7months.  Plus 78 something for the 'rental kit.'

  • I rented one from Merry Go Round in Kingwood, but I don't remember what the rates were.

  • i compared the rates at merry go round an the hospital where i had my kiddos.  the hospital was less expensive.  i was at hermann hospital in the med. ctr.

  • $45 is probably the cheapest you are going to find to rent something comparable to the symphony.  IMO if you have a PIS, you really don't need to spend money renting one. I have a PIS and it's worked great for 10 months so far (=
  • Thanks girls!

Kelly - I am going back to work at 6 weeks and trying to exclusively BF twins.  Every LC I know says to initiate my supply with a hospital grade pump.  I will be pissed if my job (working 60-80 hours / week) tanks my supply.  It may be overkill but BF is absolutely important to me.

  • $45 is a great price per month and I would jump all over it if I were you.  I rented for the first month or so due to medical necessity and it the best choice.  I had/have a PIS that works great and was awesome after I established my supply, but it was hands down the hospital grade pump that even got my milk to come in and produce when LO was a month early and not nursing.  FWIW, I rented from Hermann at the Med Center and it was the Medela Symphony for $65 a month with a non-refundable $70 deposit for cleaning/sterilizing.
