(TMI) Phlegm making me gag

Ok, this is so gross, so I apologize in advance. Is anyone gagging on their own phlegm? This has been happening to me. It is making me so sad. I don't know how to stop it. Drinking more water helps a little, but not enough to stop it all together. :(

Yes, and I don't really know how to thin it out.  Might use my grandpa's old solution and "gargle warm salt water."

I've just been drinking hot caffeine free tea and it helps a bit.

  • The only time I have thrown up so far was because I could not stop coughing because of all the mucus in the back of my throat- nothing to do with nausea.  I gargled warm salt water and it did not help, drinking water doesn't do much either.  I considered robitussin, but that stuff is nasty and I don't think I can handle the taste. I have had excessive phlegm in my throat for weeks now- it's driving me crazy.

  • That could also be from allergies. Plain Robitussin (no letters after it) is really good for it.

  • This has been happening to me recently and this morning I threw up from it for the first time. It was actually my first time throwing up at all during my pregnancy so far.

  • ugh, this happens to me every morning when I wake up!!  I drink a little Sprite; it sort of washes it away.  Maybe it's the carbonation.  It doesn't get rid of the problem, but it makes it slightly more manageable and it's the only solutions I've found so far!!  Just thinking about it makes me nauseous.  Bleh!
  • this is me!! i dry heave almost every morning and i hate it. i dont know what to do to make it go away.

  • I do this every morning as well it's like my sinuses are stuffed and then I start gagging when I try to get rid of what's in my throat, hate it!
  • I'm sad to say I share your problem.  If I'm not puking due to m/s, I'm puking because of my allergy-induced phlegm.  It's really disgusting, and my body is tired from all the gagging.
  • agh... me too. Especially when I lay down. In the last two days I've gotten a cold ( both my DH and son are sick so it was bound to happen I guess) and it makes the m/s harder to handle. I want to take Theraflu so badly...
